Elaine and a group of fellow reporters at The Santiago Times in Chile began Revista Revolver in 2008 as a way to highlight Santiago’s bustling underground music scene (and to get into concerts for free). With little information existing on nightlife and events in English, interest in the web magazine quickly grew. The team of five founders became one of over 20 writers and photographers within six months, and coverage expanded from music to food, travel, arts, living and photo essays. Elaine served as the sole copy editor from July 2008 to April 2009, creating the writing style guide and formatting stories for web using Joomla.
After returning to the U.S. in September 2008 to finish her final semester at New York University, Elaine returned to Santiago in January 2009 to focus on business planning and content management for Revolver. She left Chile in April 2009 and has since kept in touch as an editorial consultant and occasional copy editor.
